This beautiful couple had planned on marrying on August 2011 - the exact day hurricane Irene arrived in New York. The majority of weddings planned on that day were cancelled, but this couple decided to keep on marching ahead with their wedding plan. While most people were preparing for the potential disaster of this hurricane this bride and groom were getting ready for their wedding! They did not let the threat of this natural disaster stop them from making it happen.
Despite the state of emergency in the entire city I traveled from the East village to Yonkers to photograph their wedding. I felt honored that I had been trusted to take the pictures of such an important event. Once the wedding reception ended (Midnight), the videographer and his wife gave me a ride home where -fortunately- I arrived safe and sound.
To all of those brides & grooms, wedding and event planners who are planning a wedding in NYC or abroad and might be afraid that their wedding photographer won't proceed as scheduled due to the weather or a potential natural disaster: “In good times and in bad" I'll be there!
